Kira's mother, Yunkey, was rescued from the streets of Okayama, and her rescuer immediately fell in love with Yunkey, showering the little cat with love and affection. Unfortunately, Yunkey was not spayed, and the following year, she gave birth to Kira and her two siblings, much to the anger of her rescuer's husband. Things deteriorated quickly, and soon Yunkey, her babies, and their human rescuer found themselves in a very dangerous and volatile living situation. No longer able to keep the kitties safe, Yunkey's human mom was forced to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender her much-beloved Yunkey, Kira, and the other babies, to JCN. Momma Yunkey was renamed Willow and adopted.
Kira is an extremely playful little girl with bundles of energy! She likes being around other cats, but she can often be a bit bossy, so care needs to be taken to make sure she is matched with a suitable companion. Kira is very nervous in new situations and she has a hard time with transitions. She needs a home and caregiver that can give her enough time and space and she will feel safe enough to come out of her shell and show her sweet and loveable side. Kira has so much potential in the right home, but it will take her time to trust that she is safe and secure. Kira has bonded with fellow JCN rescue Suki and they would like to stay together.
Kira is currently staying at the JCN shelter in Tokyo, but can be available for foster care or adoption in other parts of Japan.
