Ginger was rescued, alongside her kitten, Buddy, from a fishing port on Awaji Island in the summer of 2015.  A JCN supporter was on holiday, when she spotted four orange cats, one of whom had a fishing hook embedded in his neck.  Although many attempts were made to rescue all four cats, sadly, two of them disappeared before they could be caught, including the one with the fish hook.  Both Ginger and Buddy were malnourished and ill, but have since made a complete recovery.  Ginger is a shy cat, but has warmed up to pets. She is surprisingly playful with a wand toy and loves Churu paste.  She enjoys watching the world go by from the highest possible vantage point.  Ginger needs a very special family willing to give her lots of time and space and continue to work with her on socialization. Ginger is currently staying at the JCN shelter in Tokyo, but can be available for foster care or adoption in other parts of Japan.

Her son Buddy was adopted with fellow shelter kitty Pau.
