Buddy was just a kitten when he was rescued, alongside his mother, Ginger, from a fishing port on Awaji Island in the summer of 2015.  A JCN supporter was on holiday, when she spotted four orange cats, one of whom had a fishing hook embedded in his neck.  Although many attempts were made to rescue all four cats, sadly, two of them disappeared before they could be caught, including the one with the fish hook.  Both Buddy and Ginger were malnourished and ill, but have since made a complete recovery.  Buddy can be quite timid with new people, but he can also be loving once you gain his trust.  His favourite food is dried fish treats!  Buddy is still somewhat of a mommy's boy, and loves snuggling next to Ginger in a basket or sunbathing in the outdoor enclosure.  He enjoys hanging out with people, but is not a cuddly lap cat.  Both Buddy and Ginger are very bonded to each other, so the ideal family would be willing to accept both kitties.  Buddy is currently staying at the JCN shelter in Kyoto, but can be available for foster care or adoption in other parts of Japan.
